Clubs

I. Sree Narayana Study Centre

This is a centre for students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the college where the lofty ideals, philosophy and vision of Sree Narayana Guru, is taught studies and discussed for better understanding and deeper insight. The function of this centre is particularly relevant when the 150th year of the Guru's birth is being celebrated all over the world this year.

II. Planning Forum

It is intended for students to involve in activities like open discussions, debates and seminars on issues which are socially and economically relevant to the state or the nation. Experts/persons of reputation are invited to interact with the members of the college planning forum.

III. Space Club

This is a science club of the students under the guidance and supervision of teachers of the various science departments. The activities of the club include classes by experts, conducting exhibitions, exchange of ideas, identification of problems, etc to nurture the spirit of observation , reasoning power, and analytical thinking among the students.

IV. Literary and drama club

An arena for intelligent imaginative, and innovative students who prefer to tread through an aesthetic track. This club, guided monitored and supported by the teachers, gives ample avenues for budding artists, and young creative writers minds. The club encourages students in literary creations and in performing arts.

V. Forestry Club

The club aims at for a greener college campus with the active participation of the student members.

VI. Entrepreneurship Club

Is is a student club with immense potential, working under the guidance of the faculty members of the Department of Commerce, intended to give exposure to the students to the realms of small scale industries, business service and self employment.

VII. Music Club

To discover, and encourage the latent talents and to encourage, and enrich the proven skills of students in the area of music, the club provides the step and stage both to perform and to enjoy the skills of the invited masters.

VIII. Mathematics Club

It is haven for the sharp minded, a place for the brains where thoughts figure in. This club encourages students to come closer to the marvels of mathematics, logic, reasoning and numeric skills.

IX. Nature Club

To emphasize the importance of conserving the nature in all its freshness, and to equip the new generation of students to join hands to fight against the reckless and selfish exploitation of natural resources and to fight against environmental pollution, the nature club plays a very lively role. The club functions to inculcate into the students love for nature, responsibility to protect nature and to encourage a symbiotic relationship with other forms of life. The club organises classes, and outdoor study programmes.

X. Health Club

Health and character are of paramount importance. Realizing this axiom, the health club provides facilities and promotes the right attitude for a physically active and healthy life. The club arranges workshops, and classes for both men and women students on topics like, importance of exercises, proper posture, better breathing style is balanced diet besides other useful healthy practices.

XI. Blood Donors' Club

Students are enrolled into this club to give opportunity to determine their blood group, and to donate blood, if they are willing, at critical junctures, to save precious lives. The club has been doing commendable service to the society.

XII. Tourism Club

This club subscribes to the view that travel opens the windows to outer world of culture, and nature. This club functions with a sizable number of members from among the students, by organizing picnics, excursions, and study programmes. Students are given training on how to prepare for travel, how to honour different cultures, traditions and customs and how to benefit from the experience of travel.

XIII. Book club

Promotes reading habit among students. Gives guidance in selection of books and on how to keep notes and details for future references. The club holds sessions of book review, and open forums for discussions on topics like, trends in literature, styles of writing, popular themes of writing etc.

XIV. Women's CELL

This club functions effectively with the objective of women empowerment in different areas of nation building. The club is a forum for women students and teachers to express their views and opinions regarding matters of their concern. The club activities are ably guided by lady teachers from different departments.

XV. Energy Conservation and environmental club

The world apparently is heading towards an energy and environmental crisis. The need of the hour is to educate the society on the necessity for conserving the resources and protecting the environment. Towards this direction, the club plays an active role. Workshops, Seminars and Study classes are arranged with this objective. The club members can participate in competitions arranged by the clubs of other colleges and at the university and state level.

NSS & NCC

National Service Scheme

The aims of the N.S.S. are:-

1) To arouse social consiousness among students

2) To develop leadership qualities among students.

3) To provide students with ample opportunities for exercising leadership through various service programmes.

Incentives: A weightage of 5 marks is given to N.S.S. certificate holders seeking higher course.

National Cadet Corps

The NCC of the College is attached to Ist Kerala Battalion NCC Varkala. The NCC of this college belongs to the Army wing.

The NCC Directorate has recommended to the Govt. and the University to give the cadets the following incentives.

i) Promotion to higher ranks.

ii) Selection for Medicine, Engineering, Postgraduate studies and so on.

iii) Attendance in camps

iv) Selection by Public Service Commission.

PTA

Parent-Teacher Association

The parents of the students and the members of the staff are the members of the Association.. Its aim is to promiote the well being of the students. The P.T.A extends financial assistance and sponsors merit scholarships to the students. It undertakes many programmes for the overall development of the college. The functions of the PTA are carried out by an Executive Committee consisting of President (Principal), Vice predisent, Secretary and other members of the Executive Committee elected by the General body. The Secretary shall be a faculty member.
